a while ago i started work on a piece of music for a friendly competiton...i never actually finished it, but entered it anyway! (i obviously didn't win....christian did!)

anyway...i decided to finish it last night.

Overall it's good, I like the first three quarters or so. But for me the last quater is very repetitive and doesn't go anywhere after the big build up and then it just suddenly ends - VERY abruptly (yes, I know I said that about the ending of your last one too).

Don't know what you're using it for - maybe that is what you want but from a pure listening to a piece of music perspective that's what I think.

this piece was for competition, where i had to choose a fictional scenario.

i went for Suggestion #2. "Do the opening theme of this movie, introducing the listener to this fantasy, biblical or sci-fi world. Could be the main theme and then segue into the disturbance or setting"

so it's not really used for anything!

and for the right project i am happy to work for credit/exposure.

i have actually remixed it, mainly changing the piano sound and turning up the "choral" parts....sounds better now but i can't be bothered to upload it again!

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good piece (and I like the piano bit near the end, my only gripe was the way it actually finishes (it seems as if you didn't have time to do an ending so just stopped). Anyway, what do I know [img]graemlins/shhh.gif[/img] Keep up the good work.

to be honest, you are pretty close to the mark there, i would have time to do an ending...but i am too lazy! when i am working on stuff just for myself, i find it harder to get motivated...i am much better when working for someone else.

there is also another reason.....when writing for TV, it is better practice to give all your music "hard" endings. this is so the editor has the choice of fading out the track before the end, or using the "stab" finish.

personaly I prefere to time my music for the scene.. I hate when editors start fading etc... it so seldomely works!
